The Hottie returned an ideal dress rehearsal at Riccarton on Saturday for an upcoming black-type target.

The Robbie Patterson-trained daughter of Swiss Ace comfortably put away her open sprint rivals over 1200 metres for the fifth success of her 13-start career.

The Hottie tucked in behind the pace before rider Courtney Barnes angled her into the clear at the top of the straight and she rounded off strongly to score by two and a-half lengths.

“I wasn’t expecting her to be that handy, I just hoped she would finish the race off well ahead of going 1400m next week,” Patterson said.

“It was a great ride, Courtney got her up in a good position as she’s normally a stride slow. She’s got a good affinity with our horses and has good hands."

“I had planned to trial her at Foxton on Tuesday but thought we may as well run for money. She got the job done, bring on next Saturday.”

The patiently handled six-year-old, who had run third in the G3 Cuddle Stakes at her previous appearance, will back-up in next weekend’s Listed Great Easter Stakes over 1400 metres.

The Hottie is the first foal of the O’Reilly mare The Countessa, who is a member of the prolific Dennis brothers’ family.

Her pedigree page features an abundance of Group 1 winners including The Jewel, The Chosen One, La Diosa, The Phantom, The Phantom Chance, Irish Chance and He’s A Doozy.
