Tianzi Takes a Winning Trick

Patience was rewarded when Reliable Man’s daughter Tianzi was on the board at Tauranga on Saturday.

The four-year-old was making her third appearance from Cody Cole’s Matamata operation when she produced an irresistible finish to open her account.

The well-related grey is raced by breeder Gerry Harvey and is a son of the Mossman mare Sexy Thing, who is out of the G2 Kewney Stakes winner and G1 Australian Oaks runner-up Eureka Jewel, also the dam of the Listed Dalrello Stakes winner Smart ‘N’ Sexy.

Sexy Thing is a half-sister to the Listed Cranbourne Cup winner Sermon and to the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes winner and G1 VTC Oaks third Golconda, whose sons Marine One and Cannonball have been successful at Group level.

A half-sister by Tarzino to Tianzi named Queen Tavane was purchased by Curtis Racing Stables at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $120,000 and Sexy Thing has a yearling filly by Savabeel.

Tianzi was unplaced in one appearance during the winter and showed the benefit of a break when she finished second on her return at Rotorua last month.

She went one better in style over 1600 metres at Tauranga where rider Vinnie Colgan had her travelling comfortably in midfield and one off the fence.

They were on the move 500 metres from home and Tianzi unwound powerfully down the outside of the track to post the first winning strike of her fledgling career.

She’s So Reliable completed a winning Tauranga double for Reliable Man when the Hastings visitor accounted for the Rating 65 stayers over 2100 metres.

She is prepared by John Bary and in the hands of apprentice Jim Chung collected her third career victory.

A 40,000 Karaka graduate bred by The Oaks Stud, She’s So Reliable is a half-sister to the dual Group 2 winner Single Minded and from the family of the mighty Zabeel.
