With an aggregate of more than $35,000,000 the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale broke all records and saw unparalleled participation for the two-year-olds on offer over the two days. New Zealand Bloodstock did an excellent job in attracting a large contingent of international buyers to Karaka which resulted in a top price of $825,000 and a total of 12 horses making $500,000 or more which far exceeds any previous Ready to Run Sale.
Westbury Stud finished in fourth position on the Leading Vendor’s Table with our top price being $400,000 for Lot 1, an impressive looking colt by El Roca from Daly River (by General Nediym), who is a brother to the talented Ben & Ryan Foote trainee Kakadu. The colt was on the short list of many buyers and was knocked to HY Cheng from Malaysia and is expected to do his future racing in Hong Kong.
Our next best price was the Reliable Man colt from The Warrior Woman (by Redoute’s Choice) who fetched $210,000 going to the bid of leading bloodstock agent John Foote. The colt is a half-brother to the stakes winner Solidify who was Group 2 placed in the Hawkes Bay Guineas in October and looks a good athletic individual for his new owners.
With sales on some horses still being negotiated past the sale, we have sold 36 two-year-olds to date, and we are indebted to the large group of buyers and agents who inspected and purchased our horses at the sales and wish them every success with their purchases.
