Promising Mare Adds to Tarzino’s Tally

Waiting tactics with Kind Thoughts have earned a handsome reward and the benefits of a patient approach will continue to deliver, according to her Matamata trainer Cody Cole.

The Gerry Harvey-bred and raced four-year-old was a highly impressive winner at Trentham on Saturday to continue the hot run of form for her Westbury Stud-based sire Tarzino.

The multiple Group 1 winner and producer also made an impact at Pukekohe where his son Wallen carried Harvey’s colours to a stylish maiden victory while the stallion’s in-form daughter Miss Tarzy scored at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.

Runner-up at her two previous outings, Kind Thoughts thundered home from back in the field to claim the thick end of the $65,000 event at the expense of Tarazetto, another daughter of Tarzino.

“She’s a lovely mare and I’ve always had a lot of time for her and Westbury have been very patient,” Cole said.

“I had plenty of confidence in her ability and we’ll get her home and assess things from there."

“She is going to be a better mare next year, she’s got a good turn of foot and will get over more of a trip.”

Kind Thoughts was ridden quietly in the early stages of the 1600 metre contest to settle back of midfield and was in traffic at the top of the straight.

Once rider Mathew Cameron got her into the clear, she lengthened her stride to mow her rivals down.

“I had to change tack three or four times and she was very good to pick them up,” he said.

Kind Thoughts is out of the Encosta De Lago mare Given With Love, who also has an unraced juvenile Tarzino filly, and she is from a potent black type family.

The pedigree features the multiple Group 1 winners Thorn Park and Bentley Biscuit with Light Up The World, World Peace, Chivalry, Stormy, and Rain Drum also Australian Group winners while San Fermin, Eye Of The Prophet, and Cask have succeeded in South Africa.
