Red Dragon’s purple patch of form continued in Singapore on Saturday night when he struck again.
The Gerry Harvey-bred and sold son of Redwood made it two victories on the bounce when he accounted for his Class 4 rivals over 1600 metres.
Red Dragon had finished runner-up in his previous appearance at Kranji, but was promoted to first following an inquiry, and he held his form to post the fifth win of his career.
Trained by Mahadi Taib, he was again partnered by CC Wong.
Red Dragon was sold by Westbury Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale to trainer Steven Ramsay for $20,000 and subsequently made his way to Singapore after realising $45,000 at the Ready to Run Sale where he was offered by Riverrock Farm.
He is a son of the late Danehill mare Wandane, who won on two occasions in Australia, and she is out of a sister to the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner and successful sire Marauding.
It is also the family of the four-time Group 1 winner Sacred Choice.
Eight of Wandane’s nine foals to race have been successful, including the dam of the Listed Albury Gold Cup winner Harmony Rose.
