Progressive filly Perfumist provided her Karaka-bound half-brother with another significant pedigree update when she continued her golden run of form at Randwick.
The three-year-old daughter of El Roca completed a hat-trick of wins at the expense of older opposition on Saturday when she effortlessly put them to the sword over 1400 metres.
The Bjorn Baker-trained filly was bred by Gerry Harvey and Westbury Stud will offer her Redwood colt as Lot 876 during New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.
A debut winner last season, Perfumist finished runner-up in her first two outings this term and then opened her wining streak at Mudgee before following up in style at Canterbury Park.
She was making her first appearance in Saturday company at Randwick where she jumped well from a handy gate to make the running.
Rider Winona Costin kicked the filly clear into the straight and they coasted to the line to score by two and a-half lengths.
“I was confident Perfumist could get the job done for us,” Baker said.
“She is one of the most improved horses in training, she has gone ahead in leaps and bounds in this preparation.
“She’s been up a while, so we will just see how she pulls up from this win and take it from there, but she is obviously a promising filly with a lot of upside.”
Perfumist was a $190,000 purchase out of Westbury’s Ready to Run Sale draft at Karaka in 2023 with Baker, Clarke Bloodstock, OTI Racing and Phill Cataldo Bloodstock signing the ticket.
She is a daughter of Tapputi, an unraced Swiss Ace mare who is out of a half-sister to the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Polar Success who also produced the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic winner Lillemor.
