Elle Hudson hasn’t taken long to post the first winning strike of his Australian career.
The four-year-old son of Westbury Stud’s Tarzino was successful in his third appearance from Joseph Pride’s Warwick Farm operation when he broke his maiden over 1600 metres at Wyong on Sunday.
Off the back of a previous third on the course over a shorter trip, he was sent out a commanding favourite and had no trouble living up to that weight of expectation.
“All things being equal, I thought he’d win. He’s a horse that’s building his race craft and I think he’ll win plenty of races in time,” Pride said.
Elle Hudson settled midfield off the fence before improving wide near the turn and held a sustained finish to open his account.
He was purchased by Jamie Walter’s Proven Thoroughbreds and partners after the grey had finished fourth on debut at Ruakaka in the autumn for trainer, co-breeder and part-owner John Morrell.
The gelding is from a family that he has enjoyed success to the highest level with.
Elle Hudson is a son of the Shinko King mare Elle Grace, who is a half-sister to Morrell’s G1 Railway Stakes winner Ryan Mark.
The pedigree page also features the G2 Matriarch Stakes winner Oceanex, the G3 Gold Trail Stakes winner Miss Aotearoa and Amexed, successful in the G3 Rough Habit Plate.
