Tomodachi stamped herself as a black-type winner in waiting with another almighty display at Ellerslie.
The lightly tried daughter of Westbury Stud resident Tarzino was making just her seventh appearance on Saturday and the good times continued to roll for the four-year-old.
Trained by Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott, Tomodachi stepped up to the open grade for the first time and, in a slowly run contest, was able to come from off the pace to seal the deal.
The Sir Peter Vela-bred and raced mare settled at the back of the field before rider Masa Hashizume improved three wide 700 metres from home and she held a sustained gallop to score.
Tomodachi has now fashioned the excellent record of five wins and a debut placing with her only hiccup a midfield finish at Ipswich last season during her sole appearance in Queensland.
Tomodachi is out of the High Chaparral mare Quintessentially, who is a granddaughter of the champion stayer and multiple Group 1 winner Ethereal.
