Star Swiss Ace 3YO Strikes Again

Gifted three-year-old Ace Of Diamonds proved the headline act at Kranji when he trumped his rivals in the Listed Singapore Guineas over 1600 metres.

The Gerry Harvey-bred son of Swiss Ace came from the back of the field to account for his age group rivals on Saturday evening to take his record to five wins from 11 appearances from Ricardo Le Grange’s stable.

Ace Of Diamonds had triumphed in the Listed Singapore Sprint three runs back before he was beaten into third in the Listed Singapore Classic and a defeat taken to heart by his Brazilian rider Bruno Querioz after they had raced wide out on the pace.

Querioz subsequently touched base with his godfather and star international jockey Joao Moreira.

“Ricardo was not happy after his last run, so I called my godfather,” he said.

“He watched the race and told me with this horse, you have to come from behind. He told me to be patient.”

Querioz did just that and they thundered home from back in the field for a hollow victory.

“This horse is wonderful and he’s learning. He has a good sprint when he comes from behind,” he said.

Ace Of Diamonds was sold through the Westbury draft at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale where part-owner Sandy Javier secured him for A$100,000.

He is out of the More Than Ready Mare Go Kate Go, who is a half-sister to the two-time stakes winner Kakakakatie.

Their dam St Kate is a half-sister by Danehill to the Group 1 winners Bonanova, Fraternity and Telesto.

Go Kate Go has produced five winners, including El Roca’s Group-placed son Moeraki, and she has a yearling sister to Ace Of Diamonds and produced a Swiss Ace colt last season and is in foal to Tarzino.
