Pacy filly Pleasing lived up to her name with an admirable performance to down her older rivals on her home all-weather track at Awapuni.
The two-year-old daughter of Russian Revolution is blessed with an abundance of pace and she used it to her full advantage to post a front-running victory over 1200 metres.
Bred by Gerry Harvey, she had been well supported in her New Plymouth debut against her age group but weakened out of contention after she over-raced and hung throughout.
Trainer Mike Breslin sent Pleasing back to the trials and, off the back of a 14-length win over 1000 metres, she was quickly into stride on Friday to cross to the front from the outside barrier.
Se hared along in front under rider Lisa Allpress before surging clear on the turn and had enough in reserve to open her winning account.
Breslin purchased Pleasing out of Westbury Stud’s draft at last year’s New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale for $75,000 and races the youngster with Hawke’s Bay owner Roy Potter.
She is the first foal of the Street Cry mare Happy Street, who was successful on three occasions and has since produced a filly and a colt by Redwood and is in foal to Tarzino.
Happy Street is from the family of the former Australian Horse of the Year and multiple Group 1 winner Lonhro, whose brother Niello also won twice at the elite level.
