Savonoski Strikes Again

Swiss Ace’s son Savonoski is quickly making up for lost time and completed an impressive hat-trick of wins with further success on his home track.

He is trained on the course by Annabelle Johnson and scored over 1200 metres in Rating 75company off the back of two previous victories on his local turf.

The Harvey-bred and raced Savonoski was quickly into stride to make the running under apprentice Tayla Mitchell and, after surging clear 400 metres from home, the five-year-old fought gallantly to the post under 58kg.

“He’s been a lovely horse to take through the grades and Annabelle and her team have done a great job with him,” Westbury General Manager Russell Warwick said.

“They’ve placed him in the right races and we might look for another race through the autumn and then give him a break over winter.”

Savonoski was unfortunately side-lined following his debut success in June 2021 due to a bleeding attack, but has since come back to serious form with four wins from nine appearances and yet to finish out of the top four.

He is out of the Strategic mare Katmai whose six foals to race have all been successful.

The dam is a half-sister to the dual stakes winner Kakakakatie, whose son Sebrakate has been a multiple winner and Group placegetter.
