Model professional Rheinberg advanced his record in style at Caulfield with a commanding display to put away his rivals over 1440 metres.

The Gerry Harvey-bred son of Westbury Stud resident Swiss Ace is building a formidable record for trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes and Saturday’s success was richly deserved.

Rheinberg had finished runner-up when resuming at Sandown and was a luckless third at Flemington.

“He has been racing very well without winning this prep and at his last start he got held up and should have finished closer,” Ben Hayes said.

The five-year-old was partnered on Saturday by Micheal Dee and they jumped well from a wide gate and were able to slot in one off the fence in fourth spot.

They strode up to take control soon after straightening and strode clear to score by a length and a quarter from fellow Westbury graduate St Lawrence, a son of Redwood part-owned by breeder Harvey.

“Michael got him in behind the speed with cover and he was strong through the line,” Hayes said.

“His coat looks fantastic and I couldn’t be happier, we’ve just got to keep finding the right races for him.

“He is a healthy, happy and sound horse who has done a great job so far.”

Dee has now ridden Rheinberg to victory in four of his six victories and was delighted to be reunited with the gelding.

“I’ve won a few on him and it all worked out exceptionally well and he won quite comfortably,” he said.

“We got a clean getaway and slotted in with some cover. He went through his gears and put it to bed 400 metres out.”

Rheinberg started his career in Cody Cole’s Matamata stable and placed in two of his first three starts before Lindsay Park and partners purchased the gelding.

He is a son of the Snitzel mare Schiffer, a two-time winner and Magic Millions 2YO Classic placegetter, who is a half-sister to the multiple Group 3 winner and Group 1 performer Eric The Eel-Tourbillon Diamond (HK).

Schiffer has an unraced two-year-old brother to Rheinberg, produced a colt by El Roca last season and is in foal to Redwood.
