St Lawrence continues to improve with age and continued his winning run at Randwick this afternoon when he claimed the thick end of the stake in the A$750,000 Little Dance over 1600 metres.
The Ciaron Maher-trained son of Redwood had also been successful in his lead-up run over the course and distance and he is now the winner of eight of his 20 starts and more than A$930,000.
“He’s always showed talent but hasn’t always held his condition and can get a bit light,” stable representative Johan Gerard-Dubord.
“We sent him to the beach and some horses thrive in that environment and he does.”
St Lawrence was settled back of midfield by rider Chad Schofield before circling runners near the turn and the six-year-old finished powerfully in the run home.
Bred by Gerry Harvey, he began his career in New Zealand and was a debut winner at Hastings from the stable of the now retired Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman.
Harvey remained in the ownership when a syndicate, including high-profile owner Ozzie Kheir, bought into the gelding in a deal brokered by Maher’s bloodstock manager Will Bourne.
He is a son of the Encosta De Lago mare Bacio Del Vinto, who is also the dam of the G3 Manawatu Cup winner Marroni.
Bacio Del Vinto is a daughter of the two-time Group 1 winner Lotteria with the G2 McEwen Stakes winner and Group 1 performer The Inferno featuring in the pedigree.
The mare also has an unraced three-year-old son of named Orson Stone and produced a son of Tarzino last season before visiting El Roca.
