Redwood Colt a Headline Act

A quality son of resident stallion Redwood was a hot commodity on the middle day of New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale Book 2 for Westbury Stud and the youngster was knocked down for $135,000.

Lot 823 was secured by Bruce and Maureen Harvey’s Ascot Farm and is out of the Flying Sour mare Katespur, who was successful up to 1200 metres in Australia.

She is a half-sister to the stakes performers British Medium-Oneofthegreats (Mac) and Manhattan Times.

The pedigree also features the Group 1-winning siblings Bonanova, Fraternity and Telesto while Group 3 winners Saint Encosta, Sheer Talent and Kittens are also on the page.

Lot 914 by Redwood was also a popular offering and she was knocked down to Awapuni trainer Lisa Latta for $80,000.

Her dam is the unraced More Than Ready mare Nouveau Amour, who two foals to race have both been multiple winners.

Nouveau Amour is a half-sister to the Listed Hareeba Stakes winner Jolie Blonde and the third dam is the G1 Champagne Stakes winner Isolda.

Reliable Man was also in the action when his daughter was sold to Auckland interests for $75,000.

Lot 934 is a half-sister to four-time winner Tina Again while her brother Harmonia has also been successful.

Their dam is the Swiss Ace mare Phoenix and she is an unraced half-sister to the Listed VRC St Leger winner Exceptionally.

The former champion Australian two-year-old and dual Group 1 winner Burst features on the youngster’s pedigree page.

An El Roca colt, Lot 921, took the eye of Hong Kong interests and was knocked down for $67,500 to the final bid of Tartan Meadow Bloodstock.

He is out of the Swiss Ace mare Orange Shore with the G3 Vain Stakes winner Get The Nod under the second dam.

A good-looking son of Group 1 producer Vadamos had led the way for Westbury on the opening day of the Book 2 session when he sold for $67,500.

Offered on behalf of Berwickshire Bloodstock, the colt is a half-brother to five winners and was snapped up by Queensland interests.

He is out of the Encosta De Lago mare Equivalence who was successful in Australia and is a granddaughter of the dual European Group 1 winner Seven Springs, who produced the two-time top-flight winner and sire Distant View,

The international flavour continues down the pedigree page through the presence of Group 1 winners Pleasantly Perfect and her daughter Elusive Kate.
