The Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson-trained Egyptian Queen overcame a wide run at Te Rapa without an issue to score with a good degree of authority.
The Gerry Harvey-bred daughter of Zoustar also provided a timely pedigree update for her half-brother who will be offered by Westbury Stud during next month’s New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale.
Egyptian Queen now has a brace of victories to her credit and among her seven minor placings have been third placings in both the G3 Almanzor Trophy and the Listed O’Leary’s Fillies’ Stakes.
“She’d been so consistent and was really deserving of the win,” Walker said.
“Even though she was three-wide, she had cover, so it was a nicely judged ride by Ace and he had the horsepower to get the job done.
“She proven herself in stakes races and I think she’ll now measure up in Rating 75 company.”
The four-year-old was ridden on Saturday by Ace Lawson-Carroll and from the outside barrier were parked wide behind midfield before improving across the top.
“We had a tough draw, but we got in behind Lovaci and she took me into the race at the right time,” he said.
“I didn’t have to do anything until about the 300m and once balanced she accelerated. Once I gave her one behind the saddle she really took off.”
When asked for a serious effort, the mare lengthened stride impressively to thump her Rating 65 rivals by 1.3l.
Egyptian Queen was purchased at Karaka by Te Akau’s David Ellis for $220,000 out of Westbury’s draft and their 2025 consignment will feature her half-brother by Redwood who will be offered as Lot 649 during the Book 1 session.
They are out of the Conatus mare Hieroglyphics, who was successful on four occasions up to 1200 metres and finished runner-up in the G3 Wenona Girl Handicap.
She is a half-sister to the G2 Centrebet Classic winner Go The Knuckle and since Egyptian Queen has also produced an El Roca gelding named Pentagon and a Telperion filly.
Meanwhile, associate Westbury stallion Swiss Ace was in the action at Te Rapa where his daughter Myla made it two wins on the bounce.
The late bloomer had been successful in Rating 65 company over 1950 metres at Rotorua earlier this month and she followed up with an emphatic victory over 2100 metres.
