Former high-priced yearling Listentozou has belatedly landed the first wining strike of his career.
The son of Zoustar broke his maiden over 1400 metres at Eagle Farm on Saturday following five previous placings from 11 race day appearance.
Bred by Gerry Harvey, Listentozou was purchased by trainer Chris Waller out of Westbury Stud’s draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for A$350,000.
He has had spells at Waller’s Melbourne and Sydney bases before relocating to the Queensland arm of the operation at the Gold Coast.
In the hands of apprentice Jai Williams, the four-year-old was sent out at cramped odds and duly delivered.
Listentozou is the first live foal of the High Chaparral mare Lady de Bathe, who is a daughter of the dual stakes winner and G1 Coolmore Classic runner-up Jersey Lily.
The pedigree page also carries an international flavour with the presence of the South African Group 1 winner Zirconeum.
Lady de Bathe has an unraced two-year-old filly by Telperion and is due to foal to Reliable Man.
