Marroni Bound for Melbourne

White Noise’s stablemate and Westbury Stud graduate Marroni was allowed to bypass Pukekohe due to the underfoot conditions ahead of an Australian venture.

“He will be on a plane next Wednesday, there’s just no races for him here with his place in the handicap,” he said.

“He’ll campaign in Melbourne in the next couple of months, pretty much every week there is a Benchmark 100 or an open 1600 or 1800m race for him.”

The son of Makfi has won seven races, including the G3 Manawatu Cup, will head offshore in good touch with consecutive runner-up finishes this preparation with a last-start second in the G2 Japan Trophy.

Bred by Gerry Harvey, Marroni is a grandson of the dual Group 1 winner Lotteria and was purchased at Karaka for $90,000 by the now-retired Murray Baker, Forsman’s former training partner.
