Golden Effort on Return

The Gerry Harvey-bred Goldsborough furthered his tidy first-up record with a last-gasp shared victory in the Bat Out Of Hell over 850 metres at the Sunshine Coast.

Trained by Gary Duncan, the five-year-old has now won five of his 18 starts and he’s collected three of those wins and two placings from six starts in a fresh condition.

Goldsborough settled three back on the fence before rider Nikita Berriman was able to angle off the fence at the top of the straight and the gelding finished determinedly to dead-heat.

Bred in New Zealand, he is a half-brother to the multiple winner and Hong Kong Derby runner-up Tuchel with their dam the Testa Rossa mare Trista Rossa who has a Redwood yearling and is back in foal to the Group 1-winning son of High Chaparral.

Goldsborough was offered at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and was knocked down for A$45,000.
