Progressive mare Flanagan doubled her winning tally in quick time when successful at Ellerslie on Saturday.
The Samantha Logan-trained daughter of Swiss Ace had broken her maiden at her previous starts and coped admirably with a rise in class to take care of her Rating 65 rivals over 1500 metres.
Bred and raced by Gerry Harvey, the four-year-old didn’t make his first appearance until last Boxing Day and she looks more than capable of continuing her march through the grades.
Flanagan was ridden by Tayla Mitchell and they settled three back on the fence before coming across heels 200 metres from home and then powered to the line.
She is out of the Postponed mare Sisterhood with the international Group 1 winners Fitnah, Caponi and No Excuse Needed, who enjoyed success at stud in New Zealand, the stand-out performers on her pedigree page.
Sisterhood had a colt by Reliable Man last season and is in foal to Redwood, whose daughter Rogue Romance showed she had a bright future in a staying role with a decisive victory over 2200 metres at Waverley.
Bred by Harvey, the Lisa Latta-trained three-year-old has stepped up to a middle distance for the first time on the course last month to finish third and showed pleasing improvement to put away her older rivals on Friday.
Rogue Romance was offered by Westbury Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale at Karaka where she was knocked down to Latta for $35,000.
She is a daughter of Tragic Love Story, an unraced Sebring mare whose half-brother Bid Spotter won the G3 Hobart Cup.
Their dam is the G1 Champagne Stakes-winning Sir Tristram mare Isolda and also the family of the multiple Group 2 winner Baller.
Tragic Love Story has produced a daughter and a son of Tarzino in the last two seasons and is in foal to Reliable Man.
