Filly Provides Pedigree Update

Brazen Affair did her younger close relative a favour at Taupo where she effortlessly opened her winning account.

The three-year-old was bred by Gerry Harvey and Westbury Stud will offer her half-brother by El Roca as Lot 853 during the Book 2 session of New Zealand Bloodstock’s upcoming National Yearling Sale.

They are out of the Medaglia D’Oro mare Southern Romance who is a half-sister to the multiple winer and G3 Eulogy Stakes runner-up Librarsi.

The pedigree also features the G1 Coolmore Classic winner Aloha, G1 Champagne Stakes winner Seabrook, three-time Group 2 victress Libertini and Hawaii Five Oh, successful in the G3 Fred Best Classic.

The Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson-prepared Brazen Affair added to the family honours list at Taupo where she romped to victory under a top ride from Wiremu Pinn.

She jumped well to sit in third spot on the fence before she was angled off the rail before the turn and extended impressively in the run home to score by nearly three lengths.

The daughter of Brazen Beau, who raced in blinkers for the first time, had placed twice from her previous four starts and had been unsuited by heavy ground when unplaced most recently at New Plymouth.

“The wet track tripped her up last start and Wiremu is a very positive rider, and we like to see that,” Te Akau Racing Manager Reece Trumper said.

“Her trackwork had been very sharp and the boys were confident,”
