French Doll’s outstanding run of form continued at Trentham where she produced a tenacious effort over 1400 metres to complete a hat-trick of wins.
The Michael Breslin-trained four-year-old also rounded off a double for breeder-owner Gerry Harvey following the earlier victory of his representative Coulthard.
She is a daughter of Westbury Stud sire Swiss Ace, whose son Old Bill Bone was a dashing first-up winner at Ellerslie in Harvey’s silks.
French Doll had been a course and distance winner in April and then struck again at Wanganui before accounting for her Rating 75 opposition on Saturday.
Rider Tina Comignaghi settled the favourite in sixth spot away from the fence and had to bide her time after being held up at the top of the straight.
They were into the clear 400 metres from home and French Doll answered every call to win in a driving finish.
“She’s a big, plain horse and now as a four-year-old she’s starting to grow into herself,” Breslin said.
“I have been really happy with her and she’s a really genuine horse.”
French Doll is a daughter of the late Belong To Me mare Princesse De Paris, a half-sister to the G1 Australian Oaks winner Royal Descent and to the dam of stakes winner Solidify.
Meanwhile, the Harvey-bred and raced Old Bill Bone added to his impressive record when he came off a lead-up trial placing to score first-up in a competitive Rating 75 line-up.
The Cody Cole-trained four-year-old hit top gear for rider Ryan Elliot in the closing 250 metres to advance his burgeoning record to three wins and three seconds from six outings.
He is out of the Postponed mare Simplicity, a sister to the six-time winner Trojan Warrior, also runner-up in the G1 Easter Handicap and G2 Awapuni Gold.
Old Bill Bone’s three-year-old brother St Giles is also a winner and Simplicity has produced sons by El Roca in the last two seasons and is again in foal to the Fastnet Rock stallion.
