Blacklist has been knocking on the door and he pushed through impressively at Cranbourne for a deserved victory.

The four-year-old son of Redwood had previously placed on six occasions and a dry surface and the step up to 1400 metres on Friday evening were key factors in his commanding winning performance.

Bred and raced by Gerry Harvey, the Richard Laming-trained representative showed gate speed to cross the field from the outside gate and make the running.

He travelled well under rider Jye McNeil and, after forging clear at the top of the straight, waltzed home by four and a-quarter lengths.

“He sustained a really good gallop and was very dominant in the end,” McNeil said.

“He was quite well behaved and did everything I asked of him.”

Blacklist was second-up at Cranbourne following a midfield finish on soft ground when resuming at Warrnambool at the end of last month.

“Back on a dry surface, he felt fantastic and I also think rolling forward was key,” McNeil said.

“We tried something different and went back at Warrnambool and it didn’t work, so Richard said to go forward this time.”

Blacklist is a son of the late Encosta De Lado mare Pure Light, who is a granddaughter of the multiple stakes winner Light Up The World, dam of the G3 Blue Diamond Preview winner World Peace whose daughter Peaceful was a dual Listed winner.

Pure Light produced six winners and her last foal is a yearling brother to Blacklist.
