Reliable Man Duo Come Into Edward Manifold With Strong Chances

4 October

Reliable Man fillies Miami Bound and Leven Lass appear to be strong chances in tomorrow’s A$300,000 Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington as both are likely to look towards an Oaks path safely through Saturday’s feature.

Miami Bound (Reliable Man x Arapaho Miss) will start a warm favourite, currently quoted at $2.40 on the NZ TAB, and looks to be a great chance as she steps away from barrier 7 for Damien Oliver and Danny O’Brien. Trained on the course at Flemington, Miami Bound was a $120,000 purchase at Karaka in 2018 for her trainer and should she prove the punters right on the weekend she will be worth many times this in the future.

Out of the VRC winner Arapaho Miss (Danehill Dancer), Miami Bound is a half-sister to stakes winner De Little Engine who won 8 races and more than A$700,000 from the stable of Danny O’Brien and is a direct descendant of the Group winner and quality producer Lady Rebecca. As a broodmare Lady Rebecca produced the highly successful sire and broodmare sire Alzao.

Miami Bound certainly has a pedigree to suggest she will run an Oaks journey and the step to 1600m in the Edward Manifold Stakes on Saturday should hold no fears.

A strong second stringer on the race for Reliable Man is the Busuttin Racing trained Leven Lass (ex Dunbarton) who heads into her third start in a new preparation after showing plenty of ability as a late two-year-old.

A full sister to the promising Duchess of Lennox, Leven Lass was a $95,000 purchase for her trainers at Karaka and won at Bendigo over 1400m at just her second start before a good second to the talented Independent Road over 1400m at Flemington in her third and final outing as a two-year-old. Independent Road will step out as favourite in the Super Impose Stakes over 1800m tomorrow.

Leven Lass resumed at Sandown over 1300m, where she finished off the race nicely, and showed good improvement against the colts at Caulfield two weeks ago when stepped up to 1600m and finishing third to Skiddaw and The Lifeline. Brett Prebble will continue his association with Leven Lass in the Edward Manifold Stakes.

Leven Lass is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Dunbarton who is a daughter of Champion racemare Tartan Tights. Dunbarton has a Redwood gelding heading to the Ready to Run Sale at Karaka in Novemberand is due to foal to Reliable Man in 2019 and will return to the son of Dalakhani this season.
