Tarzino's Son Makes Impression

Special mention needs to be made of the recent Bendigo winner Norwegian Joy, who made an impressive winning debut over 1500 metres.

Bred and raced by Harvey, the exciting son of Tarzino is prepared by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr and was ridden by Patrick Moloney.

“We were happy to be pretty bold with him and he’s a free-flowing staying type and we let his stamina bring the opposition undone,” Moloney said.

“I always knew he was comfortable and put them to the sword. It was pretty simple really, take him to the front and keep him out of trouble and job done.”

Sent out a short-priced favourite, Norwegian Joy worked to the lead and travelled well in front before lengthening stride to stroll home by three lengths.

“He’d had a good prep leading up to his first race day start and has showed good promise at home at Cranbourne,” Moloney said.

A half-brother to seven-time winner and Group performer Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy is out of the Encosta De Lago mare Ballyalla who had a Redwood colt last season before visiting El Roca.

Ballyalla is out of a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Shogun Lodge, whose half-siblings Singing The Blues and Referral were also successful at the elite level.
